Following on from last year’s record breaking charity fundraising, staff at Eldon Insurance have voted and chosen the Toma Fund as our charity for 2016. Our aim is to raise as much money as we can for them, which will help us support the fantastic work they carry out as a local North East charity.
The TOMA Fund is a charity which supports children, teenagers, young people and their families in the North East and Cumbria, who have been affected by a diagnosis of childhood cancer.
We were delighted to present St. Oswald's Hospice (our chosen charity for 2015) with a cheque for £15,000 at the Staff Christmas Party on the 4th December. Our staff worked hard all year to raise the money through a wide range of activities including, Sky Dives, Coast and Castles Bike Ride, Allendale Challenge, Summer Fundraiser.
We are delighted to announce that not one but two of our staff have been shortlisted in the 2015 Insurance Fraud Awards, which will be held in London on October 1st 2015. James Debbage for Young Fraud Investigator of the Year and Linda Atkinson for Unsung Insurance Fraud Fighter of the Year. This is a fantastic achievement and Eldon colleagues will be rooting for both James and Linda.
We are proud to announce that our very own Andrew Cooling has won the Audrey Gough prize for the Diploma in Insurance exams. This is another great accolade for Eldon Insurance, as this is the third year in a row that we have had a prize winner. It shows how much effort and commitment our staff put into their exam studies, as well as the continued support we give them.
Brian Stonehouse, our QRT Manager has been elected as President of the Newcastle Insurance Institute for 2015/16. Brian has been a member of the Newcastle Insurance Institute for the past 4 years. During that time he has spent 2 years as the Education Secretary and the last year as Deputy president to Jill Carter.
Brian commented that he is delighted and humbled to have been chosen to represent the members of the Institute for the forth coming year.
Following the success of the first Personal Injury Training Academy in 2013 we launched a further Academy in October 2014. The 5 delegates (all from our Third Party Teams) successfully graduated from the Academy in February this year having completed a 20 week intensive training programme. Supported by a dedicated coach they were ‘drip fed’ everything they needed to know to become a competent Personal Injury Claims Handler.
